Twenty Years a Success

Another year and another successful conference. This year was especially significant as we celebrated the 20 year anniversary of the AGIC, the 25 year anniversary of the JRC and the 55 year anniversary of the Department of Religion.  Many thanks to all our volunteers, presenters, and sponsors. We are especially grateful to the staff and faculty of the department of religion at Concordia University for their continued support! Without all of you this would not be possible. Here is to the next milestone!

Dear Benefactors, Colleagues, and Friends,

The 20 Annual Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference (AGIC) is very pleased to extend an invitation to our event on March 6th, 2014, in the Faculty Lounge of the Hall Building (H-765), from 8:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This year we are at full capacity, having attracted a large number of presenters to date, with backgrounds in a variety of disciplines, from regional, national, and international locations. The success of our conference is largely dependent on our sponsors, and we thank you all for your support. With your continued beneficence, we hope to build on this year’s successful turnout and make the AGIC a mainstay for showcasing innovative and critical graduate research.

Please see the attached AGIC Program 2014 for full list of topics, panels, and times.

Best regards,

Ildikó Glaser-Hille

The AGIC is coming soon!

To kick off the Annual Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference, on the evening before the conference,  you are invited to a special screening of the documentary film:

 The Source Family
On Wednesday March 5th, 2014, at 18:30
in the Hall building, room H-765.
1455 DeMaisonneuve boulevard West

On  Thursday, March 6th, 2014, at Concordia University, the AGIC will present concurrent panels all day, beginning at 9:00 am, in the Faculty Lounge, Hall Building H-765, 1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd. West, Montreal. We encourage all to attend!

This year, we have an international range of papers and presenters on our topic, In/Tangibility: The Mystical, The Material, and the Messy In-Between. Our theme focuses broadly on how materiality, or the lack thereof, shapes and influences culture; the development and impact of spiritual and mystical thought, and the importance of engaging the senses within a tradition, asking how these concepts are found in religions, societies and civilizations. The special interest section, Oh, the Humanities!: Past, Present, and Future Trends in the Discipline presents papers that deal with how the humanities and social sciences have changed, the trends of scholarship and the disciplines’ influence in society.

Please browse our AGIC Program 2014. It’s going to be a good one!
